Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medication in retail and hospital settings. Depending on the position, the technician may fulfill various job responsibilities, including management of third-party billing, answering telephones, directing customers to items or the pharmacist for medication consultation, receiving written prescriptions, cleaning and sterilizing dispensing bottles and instruments, answering questions regarding non-drug products, and collecting payments.
In our non-credit fast-track Pharmacy Technician program, you will:
- Train with industry professionals to learn best practices in the field
- Prepare to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board鈥檚 CPT exam to become a certified pharmacy technician

Program Details
- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow 7% from 2023-2033, faster than the average for all occupations.
- The median annual wage for pharmacy technicians was $41,000 in May 2024.
The program cost is $1,300, including textbooks and supplies. Federal and state aid are not available to offset costs. A payment plan is available. Additionally, WIOA funding is available for those who qualify.

The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to prepare students to apply for licensure or certification in Illinois. Program completion may not meet educational requirements for licensure or certification in a state other than Illinois.
